At an EGM held on the 30th September 2017, the Scottish Rat Club committee and membership present agreed unanimously to dissolve the club, effective from the 26th November.

While this action has been taken with the best interests of the Scottish fancy and Scottish fanciers in mind, it is still tinged with sadness - it’s the end of an era, and the SRC has been such an important community for many in the rat fancy.

As per the rules of the club, the assets the club holds will be split between other groups that share the same aim, mainly the National Fancy Rat Society (who will continue to hold variety shows in Scotland in the future, filling the gap left by the dissolution of the SRC), and the North of England Rat Society (who will be ensuring our current system of pet classes in Scotland continues to be available for our members). A proportion of our funds will also go towards rat rescue as a donation to the NERS Rescue Fund.

The last Scottish Rat Club show will be November 25th, at our usual venue in Rutherglen. We are hoping you will all be able to make this very special show. We will be doing our best to make it a memorable send-off to the Scottish Rat Club.

If you are currently an SRC member, your remaining membership term will be automatically transferred over to the North of England Rat Society as of 26th November 2017. If you do not wish this to happen, please contact Leia on srcmemsec@gmail.com to arrange a prorata refund by October 26th.

If you have any further queries please contact the SRC committee on showsecsrc@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
